Gerald J. Troendle, 67, of Lansing, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing. The Rev. Daniel Knipper will officiate at the service. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing.
Gerald John Troendle was born December 31, 1942 in rural Lansing, the son of Theodore and Minnie Peterson Troendle. Gerald graduated from St. George in Lansing. September 21, 1963 Gerald and Norma Schorg were united in marriage at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lycurgus. Gerald worked for a well drilling company, the Waukon Creamery and in 1963 started farming and farmed up until the time of his death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with the grandchildren, card club and in his younger years, snowmobiling.
He was a member of Catholic Order of the Foresters, served as Trustee for Center Township and was a rural board member of the Lansing Fire and Ambulance.
He is survived by his wife, Norma; his mother, Minnie of Lansing; five children, Jean Ideker of Caledonia, MN, Denise (Dave) Schmelzer of Postville, Vicki Troendle of Waukon, Brian Troendle of Lansing, Jennifer (George) Davis of Prairie du Chien, WI; one brother, Bob (Kay) Troendle of Lansing; one sister, Bonnie (Leon) Mohn of Lansing; five grandchildren, Morgan, Monica, Nora, Haley and Emily; sister-in-laws Betty Troendle of Waukon, Ruth Foster of Livingston, TX and brother-in-laws Reuben (Nancy) Schorg of Lansing and David (Claire) Schorg of Council Bluffs, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ted; a brother, Tom; a daughter, Marsha Kay; a son, Larry; a grandson, Jesse Ideker; and his mother and father-in-law, Reuben and Frances Schorg.The Waukon Standard, December 29, 2010
