Funeral services for Donald E. Duvel were held Tuesday, April 10, 1990 at the Salem United Church of Christ near Waukon, Iowa. The Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Donald Edward Duvel, son of Orville and Laura (Bruckner) Duvel, was born October 19, 1958, in Community Memorial Hospital at Postville, Iowa. He died Saturday, April 7, 1990, in the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital at Decorah, Iowa.
He was baptized May 22, 1960 in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville. He attended the Postville Community Schools until 1972, and was graduated from the Waukon High School in 1977.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie Duvel, and his maternal grandfather, Frank Bruckner, and a nephew, Harley Jensen.
Surviving are his fiancee, Carmen McCormick and her two children, Trent and Andrea McCormick, his son, Jesse Duvel of Lubbock, Texas, his parents, Orville and Laura Duvel, 2 brothers, Charles of Caledonia, MN, and Ronald of Postville, 2 sisters, Connie Baxley of Postville and Brenda Jensen of St. Ansgar, IA, and his maternal grandmother, Iva Bruckner of Ft. Meyers, FL and many relatives and friends.
Don has been employed by the Frankville Cheese Factory, the Big G Body Shop, and for the last 9 years he owned and operated Duvel's Body Shop north of Postville. He loved camping and fishing and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Casket bearers were Dave Peterson, Curt Larson, Frank Omallie, Dan Becker, Ron McCormick and Brian Sweeney.

There are no words that we can ever say to tell all of you how much we appreciate all you have done for us at the time of and after Don's death. The generosity and love of our community is unbelievable.
To all the people who came to the house the evening of the accident and the days before the funeral, all those who helped with chores, for the food brought to our home and for the funeral dinner, to the ladies who served the funeral dinner, the flowers, offering and memorials all show your love and concern.
To Don's class of '77 and friends for all their love and caring. This means so much to all the family.
Most of all we want to Thank You for the happiness you gave Don while he was still with us. For all the little children that Don loved so much.
Thanks to Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland for the most caring services, to Dave and Karen Schutte for all their services, to the Decorah Ambulance Crew and hospital for all their effort to save a life, to my co-workers for being here for me.
