Cyril "Steve" Wiedner, 81, of Waukon, Iowa died Saturday, September 2, 1989. Funeral services were held September 6, 1989 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Steve was born June 22, 1908 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to John and Emma Wiedner. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1926. In November 1939 he married Mary Jane Meehan. He was an insurance agent and owner of Wiedner Insurance. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Allamakee Housing Board, Isaac Walton League, Waukon Chamber of Commerce, Board of Review for Assessor's Office, Knights of Columbus, board of directors of Mutual Fire and Automobile Insurance Company, and the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Surviving are seven children, Donald of Minneapolis,MN, Stephen of Waukon, IA, John of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Wiedner of Minneapolis,MN, Elizabeth Hetzel of Atlanta, GA, Richard of Minneapolis,MN and David of Marion, IA; 11 grandchildren, Danny, Doug, and Blake Wiedner, Katie and Molly Wiedner, Eric, Susan and Wendy Wiedner, Dustin and Cody Roe, and Emma Wiedner, and a brother Mel Wiedner of Harpers Ferry, IA.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Regina Wiedner and a brother Leo Wiedner. Casket bearers were James and John Campbell, Chuck Folsom, Ernie Lubahn, Edward Lauerman, and Don Hammer.
