Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held Saturday, November 5, 1988 for Forrest Hamilton Henderson who died Thursday, November 3, 1988 at his home in Volney. The Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services held at Volney United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery, rural Luana, with Schultz's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Forrest Hamilton Henderson was born July 11, 1911 at the home he presently lived in, at Volney, to William and Mae (Stafford) Henderson. He was baptized at Volney United Methodist Church and received his education in Volney school. On July 29, 1932 he married Mable Florence Thelman in Worthington, MN. He farmed near Volney all of his life. He was a member of Volney Methodist Church which later became a part of Garden City Methodist Church, in Monona, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter Mrs. Dean (Marilyn) Gannon of Middleton, WI; a daughter-in-law, Diane Henderson of Marseilles, IL; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Ruth Smith of Monona and Marion Cooper of Waukon, Iowa.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, William Frederick and Forrest Ronald; one granddaughter, Mable Anne Gannon; a brother, Earl and two sisters, Gladys Huffman, and Violet Walters.
Pallbearers were George Opperman, Marcellus Brehning, Willis Johanningmeier, Albert Moose, Brad Freilinger, and Clarence Haberichter.
