Luella Johanna Hanson, 85, of Waukon, Iowa died Saturday, November 18, 1989, at the Good Samaritan Center where she had been a resident since 1985. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 21 at 1:30 p.m. at East Paint Creek Synod Lutheran Church. Pastor Mark De Garmeaux and Vicar Mark Vold will conduct the services and burial will be in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Luella was born April 8, 1904 in Taylor Township, Allamakee County to Justus and Martha (Ask) Johnson and attended Lansing schools through the eighth grade. She grew up on the farm, moved to Lansing for a time, then moved back to Waukon. On November 8, 1958 she married Alvin S. Hanson at the East Paint Creek Synod Church. She was a member of the East Paint Creek Synod Church and its Ladies Aid. For 25 years, she worked as a private housekeeper for numerous people.

Surviving are her husband, two sisters-in-law, Ruth Hanson, and Mrs. Rudolph (Emma) Dehli, and six nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers were Herb Dehli, Dean Teslow, Bob Hogan, Steve Hanson, Eaton Cote, and Matthew Teslow. Honorary pallbearers were Helmer Olson, Lloyd Olson, Alton Olson, Rudolph Dehli, Amos Pederson, and Joe Sandvold.
