Rites Held For Fred C. Dreier

Funeral services were held at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville for Fred C. Dreier, 88, who passed away at the Waukon hospital on August 27 following a lingering illness.

The rites were in charge of Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Fred Christian Dreier passed away at the Waukon hospital on August 27 after a lingering illness, at the age of 88. He was born in Mecklenberg, Germany on May 29, 1865. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany. He also served in the German infantry.

He came to America when a young man and became a citizen of the United States on September 27, 1897. He was united in marriage in 1899 to Minnie Kamp, who passed away in 1941. He spent his remaining years on a farm in Allamakee and Winneshiek counties.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Albert; and one step-daughter, Louise Schultz. Surviving him are two sons, Emmet of Castalia and Herbert of Postville; one daughter, Elsie of Janesville, Wisconsin, two step-daughters, Ida Aumann of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Emma Fischer of Janesville, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren, and eight step-grandchildren.
