KENNETH E. FISCHER

October 17, 1926 - November 14, 2002

JANESVILLE, [Wis.] --- Kenneth E. Fischer, age 76, of Janesville, died Thurs., Nov. 14, 2002, at home after a short battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 17, 1926, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late William and Elsie (Dreier) Fischer. On March 5, 1954, he married the former Lois I. Dampier in Dubuque, IA. After attending high school, he served in the U. S. Army, stationed in Germany during World War II, and he was a life member of the VFW Post 1621. Ken was a self-taught maintenance man. He learned how to repair electrical appliances, refrigeration equipment and small motors by reading all the information her could find about them. He helped his children through many midnight emergency repair projects. Over the years, Ken was employed by Northern Conveyer, Prent Corporation, and also as a driver for MidContinental Pipeline.

He is survived by his wife of over 48 years, Lois of Janesville; 3 children: Kathleen (Paul) Paulus of Palisades, WA, George (Laurene) Fischer of Davenport, IA, and James (Kelly) Fischer of Janesville; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and his cat, Max. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 brothers, Adrian and Lloyd Fischer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Nov. 18, 2002, at the Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel, with Rev. Brian Rossow officiating. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum with full Military Rites provided by Kienow-Hilt Post 1621. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Chapel. The Whit-Comb-Lynch-Overton Funeral Home is assisting the family.

~From Dorothy Schave's obituary collection. I don't know if this is from a Janesville, WI area newspaper or the Milwaukee Journal, as it was sent to Dorothy by a Wis. relative. Kenneth's parents were William Frederick and Elsie (Dreier) Fischer, Allamakee and Winneshiek county residents.

William was a brother to my grandmother Lena (Fischer) Schave. There were lots of Fischer's around Postville, Castalia and Ossian.

William F. was a son of William Henry and Marie, and Kenneth a grandson of William Henry.

William Frederick went to Wisconsin, not William Henry.
