Edward "Mike" Schlitter, 63, of Fairbank, Iowa, died Sunday, March 29, 1998, at home of natural causes.*(Obituary did not list his birth date or place of birth but he was born in Allamakee County, Iowa). Survivors include his wife, Tamra Bukatz Green Schlitter; two daughters,Cindy Nelson of Nashua, Iowa and Erika Cavanaugh of Oelwein, Iowa; a step-daughter, Colette Doss of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three step-sons, Eric Green of Oelwein, Iowa, Kent Green of Westgate, Iowa, and Dave Riggle of Jesup, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn McKee of Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reinhart John Schlitter and Ethel(Bray) Schlitter; a daughter, Dawn Schlitter; a sister, Evelyn Van Gorder; and three brothers, Harold, Carl, and Earl Meskimen.

Mr. Schlitter was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked at Rath Packing Company on the loading docks for 11 years, then worked at Deere and Company as a machinist for 32 years, retiring in 1996.

Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock on Wednesday, April 1, 1998 at Garden View Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories, both in Waterloo, Iowa.
