Christopher Matthew Stein 1974-2000

Christopher Matthew Stein, the son of Alfred and Jeanne (Barragy) Stein was born on January 22, 1974 at LaCrosse, WI. He died on Thursday, August 31, 2000, in an automobile accident in Ankeny at the age of 26 years, 7 months and 9 days.
He was raised in Lansing and graduated from Kee High School in 1992. He then graduated from Iowa State University in Ames in 1996 with a degree in Agricultural System Technology. He was married to Stephanie C. Peterson on March 11, 2000, at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley. They were residing in Ankeny, where Christopher worked for John Deere Company in Dealer Technical Support.
Christopher was preceded in death by his grandparents and Uncle Bob Stein.
Christopher is survived by his parents Alfred and Jeanne Stein of Lansing, grandmother, Mrs. Helen Stein of Portsmouth, a sister Michel Herrington and husband Michael of Omaha, a brother Andy Stein and fiancee Heather of Lee's Summit, MO, and a nephew, Elijah Herrington. Also surviving are uncles and aunts, Dorothy Gross of Council Bluffs, Dave Gross of Omaha, Jim and Darla Stein of Storm Lake, Pete and Patty Stein, Ken and Julie Stein, Larry and Carol Stein, all of Portsmouth, Pat and Randy Pash of Harlan, Carl and Sandy Stein of Odessa, MO, Bill Stein, Don Stein, both of Omaha, NE, Paul and Dense Stein of Griswold, Mary and John Mutaugh of Wayne, NE, Pam Stein of California and Mary Jane and Paul Haverly of Algona, plus many cousins and other relatives along with a host of friends.
May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Memorials to the Christopher and Stephanie Stein Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 4, 2000 at 11 a.m. at the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton with burial in Mamre Cemetery, also in Stanton. Father James Kleffman and Rev. Myron Meyer officiated.
A memorial mass will also be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2000, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing at 7 p.m.
In charge of arrangements was the Sellergren-Lindell-
DeMarce Funeral Home.
