An item briefly referring to the death of John Weipert, octogenarian, of this township, was written for our last issue but through mistake was not put in type. Deceased died on Tuesday, March 2, at the home of his son Ferd. He was born March 17, 1816, in the village of Roth, Baden, Germany, and immigrated to America in 1854. Two years later he came to this county which had since been his home. His wife died in 1875. Three children were born to them two of whom, Mrs. Rippberger of Oregon, Ills., and Ferdinand of this township, survive, the oldest, a girl dying in 1862. The funeral took place from the Catholic church in this city Friday morning. Peace to the ashes of this good old man.
