Earl Clement Garrett, 80, of Lansing, died Sunday, April 2, 1995 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
Earl was born September 22, 1914 at Prentice, Wisconsin to parents, Jesse and Winifred Moore Garrett. He attended school in Caledonia, MN. He married Charlene Lenz on May 15, 1941 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He owned an operated Garrett's Garage in Lansing.
Earl is survived by his wife Charlene; five children, Jean (Lester) McCauley of Decorah, IA, Keith (Mary) Garrett of LaCrescent, MN, Lynette (Ron) Lysne and Joanne (Tom) Hovey, both of Decorah, IA and Joyce Garrett of Panama City, FL; nine grandchildren, Kevin and Steven McCauley. Michelle Hess, Jon and Jill Garrett, Renee and Greg Lysne, Devon and Tyler Hovey, four great-grandchildren, Dylan and Samuel Hess, Kelsie and Maggie McCauley; three sisters, Cleo Johnson of Morehead, MN, Dorothy Strub and Wilma Berwanger, both of Dubuque, IA and a sister-in-law, Rita Garrett of Lansing.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Roy E. Garrett.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 5, at 1:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Lansing with Pastor Tom Mattson officiating. Burial was in the Lansing Ridge Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Alan Steiber, Tom Garrett, Ron Garrett, Francis Garrett, Jim Gruber, Claude Schafer and Gene Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Kevin McCauley, Steve McCauley, Michelle Hess, Jon Garrett, Jill Garrett, Renee Lysne, Greg Lysne, Devon Hovey, Tyler Hovey, Ralph Bartels and Donald Johnson.
Burke Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
