Rites held for Othello Olsons

Funeral services were held Friday, March 25, 1969 at 2:p.m. from St.John's Lutheran Church in Waukon for Mr. and Mrs. Othello Olson, who were killed in an automobile accident near Blue River, Wisconsin, March 22, 1969. The Rev. David Vaaler, pastor of St.John's officiated and burial was in the Old East Paint Creek cemetery.

The Olsons were married March 21, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which was her home town. They lived on a farm in Taylor township, rural Harpers Ferry. Five children, all at home, survive their parents. They are John, James, Jeffrey, Julie, and Jerene. A son Jerald preceded his parents in death.

Mr. Olson was born November 27, 1910 to Mr. and Mrs. John Olson, rural Harpers Ferry.He was educated in the local schools. Two brothers Clifford of Harpers Ferry and Lornas of Pierre, South Dakota and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Thompson of Waukon and Mrs. Earl (Helen) Barth of Decorah, survive. Mr. Olson was a director of the Allamakee Community School District and sang in the choir at St.John's.

Mrs. Olson, the former Lora Mae Daley, was born August 29, 1932, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney E. Daley, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ralph Seifert, Brookfield, Wisconsin and her parents. She was a member of Browning Literary Club and taught the Bethel Bible series at St.John's. She attended Luther College in Decorah for two and a half years.

His casket was borne by Frank Weymiller, Walter Rixen, Bertin Juvik, Frank Norden, George Huffey, and Leland Meyer. Pallearers for Mrs. Olson were Kenneth Heeren, Rudolph Dehli, James Bristol, James Brazell, John Melcher, and Robert Gronna. Bakke and Hanson funeral home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
