Loretta Troendle, age 93, of Waukon, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Fr. Joe Schneider and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg were co-celebrants. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, rural Waukon. Hanson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Loretta Ann Ellen was born March 22, 1909, in Rolla, N.D., the daughter of John McLaughlin and Joan Casey. She attended school in Rolla and the Lansing Boarding School. On September 1, 1926, she married George Francis Silas Troendle at St. John's, N.D.

Loretta was a member of the St. Martin's Study Club, the Rosary Society, Senior Citizens, Missionary Sewing Group, leader for 4-H, and a voting official. She was also a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Loretta was proud of her three sons' service in the military.

Survivors include five children, Kenneth (Coreen) Troendle of Waukon, Janet (Harry) Hite of Vienna, Va., Joan Robey of Bridgeport, Va., Patricia Sorenson of Duenweg, Mo., and Joyce (Mike) Regan of Waukon; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren,; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three children, George, John, and Mary; four brothers; and two grandchildren. Pall bearers were her grandsons Mark Troendle, Maury Regan, Bob Regan, Paul Regan, Mike Decker, and Corey Shelton. Mike Regan Jr. was the lector.
