FARMER FATALLY HURT IN ACCIDENT

Fred Selberg, Jefferson Resident, Dies Thursday Following Run-Away Accident.

Fred Selberg, aged 55, well known resident of Jefferson township, was the victim of a fatal accident last Wednesday afternoon. He was driving a hay tedder in a soy bean field when the horses became frightened and ran away. The tongue broke and he was thrown beneath the machine. When the horses returned to the barn the family went out and found him.

The Ryan ambulance was sent for and the injured man brought to the Waukon Hospital. An examination disclosed that he had six or seven fractured vertebra and several broken ribs and it was decided to take him at once to Rochester. The nurse, Miss Amundson, and Horace Clark of Churchtown accompanied him.

He passed away at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and the remains were brought to Martin Bros. undertaking rooms the same evening.

Frederick G. Selberg, son of Henrich and Wilhelmina Selberg, was born in Ludlow township August 12, 1879, and his entire life was spent in this vicinity. He was married at Minneapolis Sept. 18, 1923, to Miss Nettie Morstad who with a son, Paul Frederick, are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. The deceased is also survived by three brothers, William, Theodore, John, three sisters, Mrs. Bert Dee, Mathilda and Emma, all of this vicinity.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Zion Reformed church, Waukon, the pastor, Rev. Stucki, officiating with burial in Oakland Cemetery. The following friends of the deceased served as pallbearers: Lou Stock, Thos. Mullaney, Otto Promnitz, Ben Hansmeier, William Dravis, Adolph Siekmeier.
