Sudden Death of Mrs. Otto Ney

The many friends of Mrs. Otto Ney of Waukon were grieved to hear of her sudden death which occurred Monday morning at 6:30 at her home. She and her husband had driven to Lansing late Thursday to decorate the graves of her parents in Oak Hill cemetery and she was stricken while there. She later suffered a stroke from which she never regained consciousness.
As Jessamine Purdy she was born June 14, 1882 in Waukon, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.D. Purdy, well known early Waukon residents. She graduated from the Waukon high school in 1900 and was a life long member of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the P.E.O. chapter for many years. On May 31, 1917 she was married at Fayette, Ia., to Otto Ney of this city and they established their home in the Purdy homestead in Waukon where she passed away. Mr. Ney, who was a traveling salesman, had the companionship of his wife on his motor trips throughout the country, many of which were extensive, and her sudden death is a calamity to her devoted husband and family.
She is also survived by one son, Edward of Minneapolis, and an only daughter, Mr. Myron H. Braun, wife of the Rev. Braun of Akron, Iowa, who was a former Methodist minister in Waukon. Other survivors are her two sisters, the Misses Nelle and Grace Purdy of Waukon. There are three grandchildren.
The remains reposed at the Martin Bros. funeral parlors until this (Wednesday) afternoon when funeral services were conducted at the funeral parlors by the Rev. H.W. Singer of Baraboo, Wis., a former Methodist pastor here. Burial was made in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery at Lansing. Attending funeral services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ney of Minneapolis and the Rev. and Mrs. Myron H. Braun of Akron, Iowa.
