Rites Held For Former Resident

F. J. McDonald, 67, former Postville resident, died in San Diego, California on November 8. Requiem high mass was celebrated on Thursday at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church of San Diego. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The deceased started his career in Postville depot learning his telegraphy under A. W. Bush. He lived in Mason City from 1919 to 1952 and was chief dispatcher for the Milwaukee Road.

Mr. McDonald was born May 2, 1897. Following his residence in Mason City, he was special assistant to the general manager of the Milwaukee Road from 1952 to 1960, after 48 years of service.

On August 13, 1919 he was united in marriage to Pearl Hammel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hammel.

Survivors included his wife, Pearl; one daughter; four sisters and one brother, including Mrs. Eleanor McNeil.
