The death of Mrs. Emery PRATT occurred Friday afternoon at the home of her son Royal in this city. She had been ailing the past several weeks with creeping paralysis and death came peacefully shortly after dinner on Friday.

Deceased was born in Indiana and would be 81 years of age, February 9. Her maiden name was Miss Martha SHEW, and she resided in Indiana up to the time of her marriage to Emery PRATT on November 22, 1865. After their marriage they became residents of Waukon and lived here the greater part of their life, their nine children being born while residents here. For the past ten years they have made their home with their daughter, Mrs. Sussie VAN RUTH of Brill, Wis., and it was while their son Royal motored there last fall to visit the aged parents that they decided to return with him to celebrate the wedding anniversary and visit their old friends and neighbors. Shortly after coming here, Mrs. PRATT became ill and gradually became worse till death occurred.

Besides her aged husband, she is survived by the following children, Frank of Tacoma, Wash., Walter of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Mary JACKSON, Waterloo, Fred and Mrs. Susan VAN RUTH of Brill, Wis., and Royal of this city. The two first named were not able to attend the funeral. She was proceeded in death by Mrs. Ida SPENCER, Mrs. Clara PAULSON and one son, Charles.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the home of her son Royal, the Royal Neighbors having charge, she being one of their oldest members. The services were conducted by Rev. Van Nice and burial took place in Oakland.
