Clarence Moore

Funeral services for Clarence Moore were held Monday, March 4, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated. King Hickman was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Bernald Martins, organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Clarence B. Moore, son of Emil and Esther (Frieden) Moore, was born February 17, 1931 at Elgin, IA. He died early Saturday morning, March 2, 1991 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, IA.

He was baptized December 21, 1952 when he became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He attended the Spring Valley Country school and graduated from Elgin High School in 1948.

On July 6, 1952 he married Joan Schultz at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The couple had 2 children. They began farming in Clayton county and 2 years later they moved to the Harvey Schultz farm in Allamakee County. In 1981 they moved to their present home in Postville. While living in town, Clarence continued to work on the farm and assisted at the Schutte Funeral Home.

He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Church Council, the Rural Fire Protection Board and Tri-City Golf Club. He was a director of Winneshiek Mutual Insurance, a Township Trustee and a state inheritance appraiser.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Leonard, Werner, William and Leo.

Surviving are his wife, Joan, a son, Larry A. Moore, D.V.M., a daughter, Joyce (Mrs. William) Christofferson, all of Postville; 7 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Orville of Elgin, Herman of Union Bridge, MD, and Robert of Fredericksburg and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Joe Duwe, Randy Mohs, Rick Kirkeberg, David Fox, Daryl Schultz, Craig Converse, Steve Jarmes, Darren Radloff.
