Cletus Charles McKee, 80, of Waukon, died Monday, June 26, 1995 at LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital.
Clete was born April 24, 1915 in Lansing to James and Alty (Patterson) McKee and was a World War II veteran serving from 1941 to 1945.
October 16, 1946, he married Carolyn Schlitter; they made their home in Lansing. They had four children: Sharyn (Mrs. Don) McCormick of Harpers Ferry, Vern of Dorchester, Vicki (Mrs. Jim) Evanson, and Dean of Waukon.
Lansing will best remember him for his 20 years in the livestock business, then as a Moorman feed salesman, tavern owner and self employed farmer and fencer. Clete and Carolyn moved to Waukon in 1991.
Other survivors include: Three sisters, Drusilla (Mrs. Louis) Johnson of Marion, Aletha (Mrs. Emmett) Johnson of Decorah, and Della (Mrs. Robert) Reed of Lansing; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Earnest, Richard, Devillo and Cyril "Mike".
Visitation was held from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in Lansing, with funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at United Methodist Church, Lansing. Rev. Tom Mattson officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.
