Ricardo James “Rick” Snitker, 62, of 4500 Wendy Lee Lane NW, passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at his home from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Congregational Church. The Rev. David Hohmann will officiate. Burial, with military honors: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Bicknese; his mother, Betty Snitker of Cedar Rapids; son, Joseph and wife Carey Snitker of Marion; two daughters, Barbra Snitker, and Clare and husband Matt Rood, both of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Bonnie Tiernan-Ehrenberger and husband Frank of North Liberty, Ann Snitker and husband Tony Patti of Amana and Jan Croskrey and husband Craig of Cedar Rapids; four grandsons; his former wife, Pam Chase of Marion; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Snitker.
Rick was born Jan. 11, 1948, in Waukon, Iowa. He married Janet Bicknese on Jan. 31, 2004, in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He spent many years selling heavy materials, handling equipment, having his own company and later as a partner for Indoff Inc. He was an active member of First Congregational Church, Cedar Rapids Moose Lodge, and Cedar Rapids YMCA. He loved spending time with his family and friends at his cabin on the Mississippi River.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
