Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ellen Sweeney, 76, of Makee township were held on Monday at 10:30 p.m. from St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus, with the Rev. Edward Lang officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Sweeney died Friday of last week in her home.
She was born on March 17, 1898 in Allamakee county to John F. and Katie Haas Howe. She was married on June 21, 1921 at Lycurgus to J.L. Sweeney. She is survived by a son, John J. and a daughter Margaret Mary, both at home. Also surviving are two brothers, Mike Howe of Waukon and Loe Howe of Waterville.
