Dwayne Steven Huebner 1952-2010

Dwayne Steven Huebner died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the age of 58, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer April 16, 2010. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Steven Brackett will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, June 4 from 2-8 p.m. at the family’s home located at 27436 Harding Road, Clermont and one hour before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Postville Cemetery, next to his daughter, Elizabeth Ann, immediately following the service.
Dwayne Steven Huebner was born April 3, 1952 in Postville to Eugene and Eileen (Sadler) Huebner. He attended Postville Community Schools, graduating in 1970. May 28, 1983, Dwayne was united in marriage to Janet (Gross) Anderson at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. To this family, Dwayne brought two dogs, Tootsie and Dusty, and Janet brought two sons, Christopher (age 6) and Aaron (age 4) Anderson.
June 20, 1984, they were blessed with an additional family member, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Huebner. Elizabeth was a member of this special family until her death April 11, 1986, at the age of 22 months. May 21, 1988, the Huebner family celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Aleesa Ann Huebner.
In May of 1990, they moved from their residence south of Postville to their new home located at 27436 Harding Road, Clermont. As a family, they enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, knee skiing, canoeing, kayaking, and attending rendezvous.
Dwayne spent his life as a painter, decorator, wood finisher, and craftsman starting at the age of 16 with his grandfather, Henry Huebner, and his father, Eugene Huebner. April 13, 1981, Dwayne was sworn in as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Postville. He served the Postville community as PD 5 for 29 years, until his retirement April 26, 2010. Dwayne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Postville, the Postville Gun Club, a Life Member of the National Rifle Association and was licensed as a General Class Amateur Radio Operator KC0POR.
Dwayne was very talented and enjoyed bow and muzzleloader hunting, processing his own venison, wood craftsmanship, creating and playing musical instruments, especially Native American Indian flutes, ballroom dancing, building black powder rifles and pistols, genealogy, and creating accouterments necessary to participate in the historical rendezvous reenactments depicting the 1840 era, especially the Fort Atkinson, Iowa Rendezvous.
Dwayne is survived by his wife, Janet, of Clermont; two sons, Christopher (Sonya) Anderson of Luana and Aaron Anderson of Postville; and a daughter, Aleesa Huebner of Marion, and her fiancé, Blake Kittrell of Marion; two grandsons, Cayl and Dayne Anderson of Luana; and the family dog, Mater.
Dwayne is also survived by Janet’s family; her parents, Alvin and Lilli (Rauter) Gross; her sisters and their spouses, Carolyn and Robert Metcalf of Sumner, Christine and Larry Moritz of West Union, Joyce and Eugene Halverson of Ossian, Sara and Randi Vagts of West Union, and Nancy and David Lyons of West Union; 13 very special nieces and nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Huebner; his parents, Eugene and Eileen (Sadler) Huebner; his maternal grandparents, Urban and Leona (Meyer) Sadler; and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Senta (Vulgraf) Huebner.
Dwayne has touched many lives in a very special way and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
