Verni Ehde Buried Saturday

Lifetime area resident Verni C. Ehde, 69, of rural Waukon died Wednesday, June 29 at Lutheran hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2 at St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery with Martin funeral home in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 17, 1919 in Ludlow township to John and Mattie Grotegut Ehde and attended Ludlow and French Creek township rural schools. June 4, 1948 he married Ethel Heuer at the Little Brown church, Nashua. He was a member of St. John's church, Farm Bureau, the local branch of Lutheran Brotherhood, a dairy, beef and hog farmer, and a carpenter. He enjoyed attending rides with Northeast Iowa Saddle club.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Carol) Stammeyer of Waukon; three grandchildren; four brothers, Elmer, Orville and Galerd, all of Waukon, and Gordon of Stillwater, MN, and two sisters, Mrs. Oliver (Margery) Roderick and Betty Nuehring, both of Waukon.

He was preceded in death by a sister Lorraine.

Casket bearers were Jaime and Jerry Fink, Dani Bahr, Randy Ehde, Burdell Roderick and Grant Nuehring.
