Alma Ellingson

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan.21 for Alma H. Ellingson, 91, of Cedar Rapids, who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 1997 at Northbrook Manor in Cedar Rapids.
The Rev. Lynn Groe conducted the 1:30p.m. services at St.John's Lutheran Church. Burial was in the Iowa River Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
She was born Sept. 30, 1905 in Waukon to Albert and Anna (Fretheim) Tangen. Alma attended rural Waukon elementary schools and LaCrosse Business College. She worked as a secretary in a Waukon law firm for eight years and several areas of Waukon State Bank for 29 years. She served as city treasurer for Waukon for several years.
In 1980 Alma moved to Cedar Rapids where she lived with her sister for three years before becoming a resident of Northbrook Manor 13 years ago.
While living in Waukon she was active in St.John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Lois Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Jean Minegar of LaCrescent, MN; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a son-in-law, C.John Anderson, three sisters, Myrtle Opheim, Orletta Gavle, and Lenora Nelson and a brother, John Tangen.
Casket bearers were Ron, Joel, and Scott Minegar, Brad Anderson, Ted Carlson, and Dan Powell.
