Mrs. Lamborn Dies at Luana

Funeral services for Mrs. Don E. (Libbie Marie Clark) Lamborn, 74, were held Tuesday afternoon, March 9, at 2 o'clock in the Luana Methodist church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating. Burial was in the Luana cemetery.

Mrs. Lamborn died Saturday morning, march 6, at the Community Memorial hospital at Postville, where she had been taken after suffering a stroke Sunday, Feb. 28.

She was born the daughter of Harvey and Martha (Jones) Clark, Sept. 25, 1890 in Post township, Allamakee county.

After completing a rural school education she attended the Waukon Business college and later taught at the Myron rural school near Postville.

She was married to Don E. Lamborn at Waukon, Jan. 27, 1913, by Rev. R. L. Van Nice. They settled on a farm in Franklin township. Mr. Lamborn died Aug. 14, 1960. Mrs. Lamborn continued to live on this farm until Oct. 1962, when she moved to Luana.

Mrs. Lamborn had many interests which she maintained until her death. She took an active part in the work of the Luana Methodist church and the Womens Society of Christian Service. She was also very active in Girl's 4-H club work for 27 years. As a leader she took several winning Allamakee county Girl's 4-H teams to the Iowa State Fair. Later she served as Allamakee county Girl's 4-H chairman.

She was very interested in birdlore and all wildlife, and collected a fine library of many books on the subjects. Because of her interests in the history of this locale and of Iowa, she was made a member of the Iowa Historical Society as a tribute to her activities in this field.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents; a brother, Virgil Clark, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Ione) Ziegler of Hardin; two sons, Donald of near Postville, and Lloyd of near Luana; seven grandchildren, David and Lisa Lamborn; Mrs. Dean (Linda) Bernhard; and Larry, Nola, Noreen, and Rita Lamborn; a niece, a nephew, and many cousins.

Pallbearers were Grant Pape, Earl Miller, Harva Miller, Elliott Nelson, Lawrence Baade, Leon Chamberlain, Hall Swenson, and Wayne Chamberlain.
