Dale G. Bublitz, 81, of Mason City died Tuesday April 6, 2010 at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. A Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 9 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mason City, with Reverend Craig E. Steimel officiating. Burial was in Elmwood St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Mason City, with full military honors conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran’s Memorial Association.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Hospice of North Iowa or St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mason City.
Dale G. Bublitz was born March 2, 1929 in French Creek, the son of William and Lydia (Buege) Bublitz. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged.
April 22, 1950, Dale was united in marriage to Cecilia Ferring in San Raphael, CA, where their first child, Regina, was born. Dale and Cecilia then moved back to Waukon, where their son, Greg, was born, later moving to Maquoketa, where their children, Dave and Dory, were born.
Dale worked for the Allamakee County Court House, he managed the Jackson Co. Lumber Yard in Maquoketa, he also worked as a salesman for CanTex, transferring to the Mason City area in 1969, and he worked at Sheffield Brick and Tile. Dale worked for Hancor as a salesman for several years until his retirement. While working in sales, Dale received many honors and awards for being the top performer and best salesman for many years.
Dale enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, trips to the casino, card games, drawing, country music and traveling, including his favorite trips to Branson, MO. His greatest love was spending time with his family, especially entertaining his grandchildren with jokes and magic tricks. He will be greatly missed for his great sense of humor. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mason City, American Legion and the Isaac Walton League.
Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Regina Bublitz of Des Moines, Greg Bublitz of Mason City, Dave Bublitz of Marion, and Dory (Kevin) Gribben of Mason City; five grandchildren, Chelsea Bublitz of Mason City, Seth Bublitz of Cedar Rapids, Christopher Bublitz of Marion, Ethan Bublitz of Marion, and Shauna Gribben of Mason City; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Bublitz; sisters-in-law, Brownie Bublitz of Waukon, Mary Bublitz of Waukon, Rita Mae Ward of Waukon, and Virginia (Jim) Moore of New Albin; one brother-in-law, Bill (Karen) Ferring of Waukon; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His parents; his wife, Cecilia; his brothers, Floyd, Vern, William, Merlin, Allen, Albert, and twins Garland and Earl Bublitz; and his sisters, Gladys Lang and Ruby Sivesind, preceded him in death.
