Daniel “Bud” Marsden, 83, of Waukon died Friday, April 9, 2010 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, April 12 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was at St. John The Baptist, West Ridge Cemetery, rural Waukon.
Daniel James “Bud” Marsden was born April 1, 1927 on the West Ridge area, rural Waukon farm of his parents, Bert and Rose (Curtin) Marsden. He attended rural schools and later took the welding program at Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar. Bud lived on and farmed the family’s West Ridge farm most of his life, first along with his father and later on his own. They operated a small dairy herd, and raised beef cattle, hogs, sheep, and grain. The past six years Bud has lived with his sister in Waukon.
Bud was a member of St. John the Baptist West Ridge Catholic Church until its closing and has since been a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed living in the country and in his younger years loved to go roller skating.
Survivors include his twin sisters, Mary Lou (Irv) Walsh of Waukon and Margaret Anne Wagner of Caledonia, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Stephen Walsh.
Casket bearers were Pat Curtin, Donald Hanson, Richard and Tom Wagner, and James and Kim Walsh.
