Mrs. Looney Dies In Highway Crash
Mrs. Ambrose Looney, 40, of Postville was killed at about 12:35 a.m. Saturday, July 10, in a two-car collision 2 miles southeast of Postville on highway 18 and 52. The accident occurred at the Ronald Fox farm.
Her husband, a 15 year old son Michael, and Clinton Schnuelle, 18, of Castalia, driver of the other car were injured.
Schnuelle was heading north attempting to pass a car ahead of his, driven by a cousin, Will Schnuelle, and crashed almost head on into the Looney car, which was coming from the opposite direction. Mr. Looney had driven on to the shoulder of the highway in an attempt to avoid the accident. Mrs. Looney, mother of seven, was thrown out and pinned under the over-turned car. She was dead on arrival at the Postville hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Bridget's church in Postville with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery in Monona.
