RONALD LEE KOENIG

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 28, 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Ronald Lee Koenig, 18, who passed away February 25. The Rev. Lenwood Monte was in charge of the rites. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

Ronald Lee Koenig was born the son of Leonard Koenig and Florence Snitker Koenig on September 8, 1948, in Elkader. He was baptized in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, on October 3, 1948, and was confirmed there on April 15, 1962. He departed this life on February 25, 1967, as the result of an automobile accident near Marion.

Ronald graduated from the Postville School in May, 1966, and on February 24, 1967, graduated from the Electronic Computer Programming Institute at Cedar Rapids.

He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Sharon Koenig and Karen West, both of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, James at home, his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koenig, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. August Snitker of Waukon.

He was preceded in death by his brother Leon, and his maternal grandfather, August Snitker.

Ron Koenig Is Accident Victim; Rites on Tuesday

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Ronald Lee Koenig, 18, who was killed in a car accident Saturday evening. The Rev. Lenwood L. Monte was in charge of the rites; burial was in the Postville cemetery.

Ronald Koenig of 1322 First Avenue, NE, Cedar Rapids, was killed Saturday evening in an accident about a mile east of Marion on Highway 64-151. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Koenig of Postville.

The youth was dead on arrival at Mercy Hospital about 8:30 Saturday. The accident happened about 7:20, but Koenig was pinned in the wreckage for a time.

Injured in the accident were Richard D. Marsh, 24, Cedar Rapids; Gerald Kehoe 27, and his wife, Donna, 23, of Monticello. Highway patrolmen reported that Marsh was driving east on the highway when his car went out of control and collided broadside with a westbound car driven by Kehoe. Marsh was thrown out while Koenig was trapped in the wreckage.

Ronald graduated from Postville High school with the class of 1966. He had just graduated from Electronic Computer Programming Institute in Cedar Rapids on Friday.
