Edna E. Moe, age 95 of Decorah, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah following a long illness. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiating. Burial was in Lutheran Cemetery. Fjestful Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. Edna Emelia Engrav was born December 11, 1907, in Allamakee County to Ole and Caroline (Larson) Engrav. She was baptized and confirmed at Glenwood Lutheran Church. When Edna was six years old, she moved in with Ole and Ingeborg Loven, her aunt and uncle, and godparents (sponsors), who lived in Glenwood Township, Winneshiek County. She lived with them until her marriage. She attended the Rocksvold School in Glenwood Township and Decorah High School.

Edna was united in marriage to Juel Magnus Moe June 30, 1926, in Glenwood Township. To this union four children were born: Ernest, Marcella, Eileen, and Richard. They farmed in the Glenwood area, then retired and moved into Decorah in 1963. Edna then worked at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah from 1964 to 1983, retiring at age 75. After retirement, she did volunteer work at Aase Haugen Home. Edna was a member of First Lutheran Church since 1965. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was a resident of Aase Haugen Home since September 8, 2001.

Edna is survived by her two daughters and two sons, Ernest (Dorothy) Moe of Janesville, Wis., Marcella Knudson of Waterloo, Eileen (Dean) Schrempp of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Richard Moe of Decorah; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister and two brothers, Clarence Engrav of Mabel, Minn., Emma (Melvin) Anderson of Waukon, and Forrest Engrav of Mabel; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juel, on October 5, 1988; Ole and Ingeborg Loven; one son-in-law, Garold Knudson; and ten brothers and sisters, Henry Engrav, Irene Bakkum, Henry Engrav, Cora Christensen, Lloyd Engrav, Halvor Engrav, Leonard Engrav, Lawrence Engrav, Marie Helgemoe, and Esther Jahr.

Casket bearers were Michael, Randall, Thomas, and James Moe; Steven, Jon, and Paul Schrempp; and Keith Knudson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church or Aase Haugen Homes.
