Funeral services were conducted Thursday, December 6 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, for Hilbert A. Larson who died December 3 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville. The Rev. Norman Ullestad officiated.

Hilbert Larson, the son of John Larson and Ida M. Kvale, was born June 11, 1913 at Carpenter, Iowa, and graduated from high school at Otranto, Iowa in 1931. He was baptized at Carpenter, Iowa and confirmed into St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Garnavillo in 1940. He was received by letter of transfer as a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, April 6, 1952. He had been an active member since that time.

On September 26, 1942 he was married to Ruth I. Peterson of Postville and to this union two children were born.

He served in the United States Air Force in World War II being stationed in Central America and later was transferred to the United States Army.

Upon returning from the Service, he worked 11 years at the Postville Locker Plant. In 1956 he went into business for himself in a service station and continued to operate the business until recently.

He was a member of Arthur F. Brandt American Legion Post #518 and a past Commander of the Post.

Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife Ruth, his two children, Luther and Solvsig; four grandchildren; four brothers, Arthur and Virgil of Des Moines, Noel and George of St. Ansgar; four sisters, Viola of Des Moines, Mrs. Fred (Mildred) Koschmeder of Riceville, Mrs. William (Hazel) Brandt of Charles City and Mrs. John (Betty) Grimm of Council Bluffs and other relatives.

Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
