MOTHER OF DRUGGIST IS CALLED

Mrs. Isabel Leithold, mother of John V. Leithold, local druggist, passed away this morning at 1 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E. E. Schlieman, near Zamora.

One week ago today she was seized with a paralytic stroke that resulted in almost complete paralysis. She never regained consciousness, and death came as no surprise.

She was surrounded by all of her children when the end came, with the exception of one son, F. C. Leithold, who arrived from Portland, Oregon, this morning, shortly after her demise.

Her husband, the late John N. Leithold, died in this city on December 18, 1924*. Soon after his death Mrs. Leithold went to Zamora to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. E. E. Schlieman. Up to the time of the fatal stroke she had been apparently in her usual health, although the death of her life mate was a severe blow.

Mrs. Leithold was a native of Paducah, Kentucky, born March 1, 1846, and was therefore 79 years and 18 days of age. Her maiden name was Isabel Fox. When a mere slip of a girl, the family moved to McGregor, Iowa, and later to Postville, Iowa.

In 1865 she was married to the late John N. Leithold, who was engaged in the merchandise business. Later he served as postmaster at Postville under the Cleveland administration.

About ten years ago Mr. Leithold retired from business and he and Mrs. Leithold came out to Woodland, California to spend their remaining years.

Seven children were born, five of whom are living. They are John V. Leithold of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. E. F. Schlieman of Zamora and Mrs. Byron Case of Watsonville, California.

Funeral Services will be held Friday morning at 10’clock in the Krellenberg chapel. Burial will be in the Woodland, California cemetery.

Mrs. Leithold was a very quiet, unassuming woman, but a lovely character who had endeared herself to all who had been fortunate enough to have shared her acquaintance.
