James Hickey Is Drowning Victim

James Donald Hickey, 22, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Hickey of 207 South Street, was drowned Wednesday in Frentess Lake south of Dubuque.

He was vactioning with his parents at the lake when he fell from the bow of the cabin cruiser. Mrs. Hickey threw him a rope that he missed and sank from sight. He was known to be a good swimmer.

The Hickeys hailed a passing boat in which Ken Gordon, manager of a Dubuque radio station was riding. Gordon notified the sheriff's office. At last report, deputies were unsuccessfully draging the lake for the body.

James Hickey was born in Waterloo, June 3,1936, and lived there all his life with exception of three years which he spent in the Army on Formosa.

He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church. While at Sacred Heart High School, he was active in athletics, playing on the basketball and baseball teams.

Note: James' mother was the former Hazel Alberta Kaeser of Makee Township, Allamakee County, Iowa.
