Margaret H. Wiltgen, 89, of Waukon died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 16 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Hanover Cemetery, rural Waukon.

Margaret Helen Tierney Wiltgen was born August 29, 1920 on her parents' farm in rural Dorchester, the daughter of John and Ella (Connor) Schulte. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester and attended country school in Waterloo Township rural Dorchester.

October 25, 1939 she married Charles Tierney at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester. They lived in the Tierney rock house in Hanover Township where they farmed together until 1966. Marge and Charles then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she worked as a sales clerk for Yellow Front Store. Charles died August 21, 1984.

Marge moved back to Waukon in 1987. August 22, 1990 she married Vivien Frank Wiltgen at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. He died March 25, 1999.

Marge was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She volunteered at St. Patrick School serving lunch and at St. Vincent DePaul in Waukon. Marge enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, reading and watching baseball on TV, especially the Chicago Cubs. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include three brothers, Lloyd (Ruth Ann) Schulte of Waukon, Norbert (Rita) Schulte of New Albin, and Greg (Jean) Schulte of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Jeanette McCormick of Waukon; three step-children, Maralyn (Jerry) Welsh of Lansing, Geralyn (Roger) Torkelson of Elkader, and Joel (Sarah) Wiltgen of Swansboro, NC; eight step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; five step-step-grandchildren; 10 step-step-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Schulte of Caledonia, MN and Marlys Schulte of Decorah; a special friend, Al Burg of Waukon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Charles and Vivien; two brothers, John and Cletus Schulte; and two sisters, Angella Regan and one in infancy.

Honorary casketbearers were her step-grandchildren. Casketbearers were Dave, Pat, Kevin and Stan Schulte, Ron McCormick and Ron Regan.
