Funeral services for Ben Gulsvig, 72, of Maquoketa were held Saturday afternoon, July 19, at 2 o'clock at the Norway Lutheran church at St. Olaf with Rev. Robert Henriksen officiating. Burial was in the Norway Lutheran church cemetery with military rites at the grave conducted by St. Olaf American Legion Post No. 388.

Mr. Gulsvig died Wednesday, July 16, at the Veterans hospital in Iowa City.

He was born March 12, 1897, in Gunder, a son of Asbjorn and Elsie (Olson) Gulsvig. He was married to Mildred Nichols, April 22, 1946, at Ossian.

He was a veteran of World War I and had served for several years at both the Luana Farmers Cooperative creamery and the Union Farmers creamery at Monona.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and three brothers.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carolyn of Maquoketa; a son, Rodney, of Moline, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Wold and Mrs. Mary Erickson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Evelyn Knoblock of Montevideo, Minn.; one brother, Albert of Postville, and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Rugland, Oscar Thompson, LeRoy Larson, Arthur Wilker, Wesley Lenth and Lee Mathews.
