Funeral services were held on Monday, October 2 at 11 a.m. for Erma J. (Jean) Grotegut at Salem United Church of Christ, Waukon, with the Rev. Dr. Elsa Marsland officiating. Burial was held in the Salem cemetery. Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

She died Friday, September 29 at the age of 57 in her home in Waukon.

She was born Oct. 28, 1931 to Arthur H. and Edna (Adam) Grotegut in Waukon. Erma was a lifetime resident of Waukon and a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.

She was a 1949 graduate of Waukon High School and a graduate of Deaconness School of Nursing in Marshalltown. She worked as an LPN at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon for 34 years.

Survivors include her son Steve; a sister, Mrs. Ernest (Lorna) Bjerke of Waukon, and two grandchildren, Andrea and Bryce.

She was preceded in death by a brother Robert and an infant sister.

Pallbearers were Dan Cunningham, Gene Curtis, Arnold Ludeking, Merlin Hansmeier, Marvin Adam and Floyd Ingles. Honorary pallbearers were Janice, Linda and Kristi Bjerke and Julie Curtis.
