Mrs. Robert Johnson Called To Home Beyond

Friends of Mrs. Robt. Johnson were grieved and saddened Monday to learn of her death which occurred that morning at her home in Jefferson township after a several months illness from heart trouble.
Deceased, whose maiden name was Helen Gilbertson, was born in Norway August 28, 1861, and was in her 70th year. She was united in marriage in the homeland with Robert Johnson on October 23, 1881. Seven years later she and her family emigrated to America settling in this county. For the past 21 years she had resided on the home farm in Jefferson.
This union was blessed with ten children, four sons and six daughters, namely: Mrs. Gunda Martindale, J.R. and Oscar, Waukon; Helmer, Harmony, Minn., Mrs. Fred Mickey, Mason City; Mrs. Silas Campbell, Malcolm, Minn., Mrs. Adolph Larson, Lansing; Mrs. Anna Onsager, Decorah, and Helen and Robert at home. She is also survived by a sister residing in Norway.
During her long illness she never complained, but bore her afflictions with cheerfulness. Everyone who knew Mrs. Johnson esteemed her for kindly ways and felt her motherly tenderness. It is hard for those near and dear to part with her and she will be sadly missed by her family. For years to come the memory of a life well spent will inspire and guide those who survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at the West Paint church, of which she was a member, conducted by Rev. Leas. Burial will be in the cemetery nearby.
