Rites On Friday For W. J. Geiger

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Schutte Funeral Home for William J. Geiger, 61, who passed away at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines on Sunday following a lingering illness.

Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's will officiate. Burial will be in Postville cemetery.

William J. Geiger, son of Jacob Geiger and Mary Hulbert Geiger, was born July 3, 1891, in New York City, New York, and departed this life, after a period of declining health, on August 24, 1952, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, aged 61 years, one month and 21 days.

He was united in marriage with Sophia Linderbaum of Postville, on December 28, 1929, at Cresco. To this union one son, who survives the passing of his father, was born.

Mr. Geiger spent the early part of his life in New York City. Then for a number of years he resided in Florida. He served in the United States Navy for a term of years. For the past 23 years he has been a resident of the Postville community. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow; one son, Ludwig, serving in the United States Army; two step-brothers: Otto Wonicker and Arthur Wonicker, both of Jacksonville, Florida; as well as other relatives and friends.

Mr. Geiger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; Mrs. Lottie Johnson and Mrs. Lillian Schultz.
