Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for Fred Gericke, 73, who passed away at his home on December 6. Death followed a heart attack.

Frederick Gericke, son of John and Maria (Klinge) Gericke, was born September 13, 1877, in Clayton County and departed this life on December 6, 1950, at his home in Postville, aged 73 years.

Mr. Gericke was received into active membership in the Lutheran church in the St. Paul's congregation in Postville.

He was united in marriage with Lucy Heins on March 26, 1907. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive the passing of their father.

Mr. Gericke spent the first ten years of his life in Clayton county. Throughout the remainder of his life he was a resident of Allamakee county. Mr. and Mrs. Gericke retired to Postville eight years ago and this city was his home since that time.

Left to mourn his passing are his widow; two sons: Milo Gericke of Postville and Cloy Gericke of Waukon; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, John Gericke of Postville; five sisters: Mrs. Chris Meyer, Mrs. Otto Sander, Mathilda Gericke, Mrs. William Sebastian and Mrs. Ben Morch, all of Postville; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Mr. Gericke was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mrs. Clinda Meyer; two brothers: William and Henry Gericke; and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Wagner.
