Mrs. O. C. Leer Taken By Death Tuesday (1869 – 1939)

Death came to Mrs. O. C. Leer, 70, at her home on West street early Tuesday morning. She was stricken with a heart attack Friday, which caused her death.

Mrs. Leer was born March 20, 1869 in Vestern Toten, Norway. When she was 20 years old she came to America and Winneshiek county. February 17, 1896, she was married to O. C. Leer at the Pontoppidan church, and they made their home on a farm in Winneshiek county. In 1914 they retired from farm life, and came to Waukon to reside. In 1919 they purchased the home on West street where she and husband have since resided. Two children were born to this union, both of whom survive.

Mrs. Leer was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church, and a worker in the Ladies Aid Society.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Irving (Alma) Crawford, Frankville, one son, John P. Leer, Minneapolis, and four grandchildren. Six sisters and six brothers also survive, all of whom live in Norway.

Private services will be held at the home Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and the funeral service will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2:00 o’clock. The Reverend P.F. Kjorlaug will officiate, and interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
