Former Resident Buried At Osage
Funeral services for Alonzo Folsom, 71, were held April 6, at the Champion funeral home in Osage, conducted by the Rev. Donald Bourne, pastor of the Congregational church. Masonic rites were conducted at the grave, with burial in the Osage cemetery.
Mr. Folsom died suddenly April 3, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ray Simpson, near Osage. He suffered a heart attack as he was preparing to sit down for the evening meal.
Alonzo Folsom was born August 10, 1878, in Allamakee county, the son of Thomas and Eliza Ewing Folsom. He was married to Hazel Harris in 1906 at Postville. They farmed near Postville and Lansing before moving to a farm southeast of Osage in 1934. Mrs. Folsom died in 1939. Since her death, Mr. Folsom had made his home with three daughters.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ray Simpson and Mrs. Max Morrison of Osage, and Mrs. Lee Havelick of Postville; 13 grandchildren; five brothers, William of Dubuque, Melbert of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Gilbert of Decorah, Richard of Cedar Rapids, and Milo of Postville, and one sister, Mrs. Earl Hammel of Postville. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
