LeRoy Leonard Foels, son of Albert George and Esther Dorothy (Sander) Foels, was born February 18, 1926, on a farm in Post Township, Allamakee County, north of Postville, Iowa. He passed away Saturday, October 17, 1992 at his home in Postville. He had reached the age of 66 years, 7 months and 29 days.

He was baptized July 24, 1926 in St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. E. T. Finck. In 1943 he graduated from Postville High School. LeRoy served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

LeRoy became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church on June 10, 1945, where he served on various church committees including the Church Council and the Pastor Call Committee. He was also active with the church 46er's youth group and their project to raise money for the Bremwood Children's Home in Waverly.

On April 13, 1947 he was married to Ruby Anna Emma Miene at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig. To this union two children were born. They farmed south of Postville, then south of Luana and finally moved to the farm in Grand Meadow Township. In 1983 they built their present home in Postville. LeRoy had been a DeKalb Seed Corn dealer for many years. After his retirement, he was also employed as a car salesman for Huinker Chevrolet in Monona and Hillside Motors in Elkader.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby; a son, John (Gwen); and a daughter Mary (Jerald) Kleve, all of Postville; three grandchildren, Koral (Brian) Harbaugh, Laurie Foels and Megan Kleve; two brothers, Harlan of Postville and Robert (Leona) of Elgin, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for LeRoy Foels were held Tuesday, October 20, 1992 at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Rev. Charles W. Miller officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Dennis, Ron, Loren, Calvin and Dean Foels, Neal VanHorn and George Kuehl.
