Obituary

Philip Seneca Walton

RUSSEL (Special) - Philip Seneca Walton, 89, died in Tyler Hospital, Sept. 29, 1959 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church, Oct. 1, the Rev. Donald Taylor officiating. Two numbers were sung by Mrs. Doyle Swift and Mrs. Walter Olson with Mrs. Henry Arndt accompanying. Interment was in Russell Cemetery.

Mr. Walton was born May 30, 1870 at Schooley's Mountain, N.J. at a Methodist home where his parents were caretakers. He was a scout during the Indian wars in the west from 1888-1890. He became an expert marksman and sharpshooter. From 1894-95, he was member of the Iowa National Guard, and received the rank of sargeant. He lived in Waukon, Ia. and Russell after 1940. He was united in marriage to Hattie Kaeser on March 9, 1927. In later years he worked as a carpenter and painter. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Hattie, Russell; one son, Frank, Long Beach, Calif.; and several grandchildren.

Pallbearers were G.A.Brinkmeyer, Harry Youngdahl, Carlton Walker, Ed Swanson, L.D.Lattimore, and E.J.McGlothlin.
