Friday Morning at Lycurgus Church
The death of Ben Haas, 78, lifelong resident of Allamakee County, occurred Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leo Ferring of Union Prairie Township following a lingering illness.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Haas, he was born near Lycurgus, May 17, 1867, the greater part of his life spent farming in that vicinity where he was highly esteemed.
Surviving are his widow, the former Elizabeth Schreiber, three daughters, Mrs. Ben Troendle, Lycurgus; Mrs. Mary Ziemann, Mason City; Mrs. Leo Ferring, Union Prairie Township; and a son, Joseph Haas, in overseas service. Also three sisters, Mrs. Christine Zabolitsky, Lansing; Mrs. William Schobert, Chicago; and Mrs. Thomas Teeling, Waukegan, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Friday morning at St. Mary's Church, Lycurgus, conducted by Rev. Thos. O'Toole. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
