Marice Kruger, daughter of Christian B. and Pearl J. (Johnson) Schluntz, was born January 31, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She died April 29, 1995 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was 56 years old.

Marice grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and received her schooling in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and was a 1960 graduate of UNI in Cedar Falls with a major in music and a minor in home economics.

On June 6, 1970, she was married to James Kruger at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in rural Postville, Iowa.

She was employed by Allamakee Community Schools as a teacher. She had helped to facilitate a number of workshops on the local, state and national level. She was active at First Presbyterian Church as organist for 14 years and as Junior Choir Director. She was a member of Allamakee Community Education Association, Iowa Education Association, NEA, and a past officer of Iowa Music Educators Association. She was named Nationally Registered Music Educator by Music Educators National Conference. The Marice Kruger Music Scholarship was established in 1994 to honor her contribution to the Allamakee Community Schools.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, James Kruger of Waukon; mother-in-law, Norma Kruger of Waukon; sister-in-law, Karen Unertl of Lansing, as well as several cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2, 1995 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Honorary casket bearers were Larry Siddell, Roger Stock, Steve Plasden and Virgil Kugel. Casket bearers were Ann Hart, Rupert Caballero, Roger Plasden, Ken West, Harry Lamphier and Ralph Grotegut. Arrangements were made by the Martin Funeral Home of Waukon. Interment was at Bethlehem Presbyterian Cemetery.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 2 for Marice Kruger, 56, who died Saturday, April 29, 1995 at Northgate Care Center. The Rev. Larry Olson performed the 2 p.m. service at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Cemetery with arrangements by Martin Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 31, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Marice was the daughter of Christian and Pearl (Johnson) Schluntz. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids and after graduated from University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, in 1960, accepted a job teaching music in the Allamakee Community Schools.
