Death Claims Frank Moore
Lived in Allamakee County for More Than Seventy Years; Age 79

Frank Moore died at an early hour Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John McGeough. He had been a patient sufferer for a number of years from an incurable disease and his death was no surprise to his family and friends. Six years ago he submitted to an operation at St.Francis Hospital in LaCrosse for the removal of a cancerous growth and although the operation was a success in that it prolonged his life, he never fully recovered and the past year he had been confined to his bed. Mr. Moore was 79 years of age, was born in New Orleans on July 8, 1854. When a child he came with his parents to Waukon and settled on a farm nearby. On January 4, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Cassidy and they settled down to home life on a farm in Jefferson township, where they lived their entire life. Six years ago when his health began to fail he came to Waterville to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. John McGeough. On January 6, 1926, he and his wife were permitted to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. The following year on May 30, 1927 he was obliged to part with her by death and her passing left a vacant place in the one time happy home. Their union was blessed with ten children, four of whome have preceded him in death, namely, Will, John, Leo, and Mrs. Will Hart (Fannie). Those who survive are Richard and Miss Lizzie Moore on the home place in Jefferson township. Tom at Hokah, Minnesota, Mrs. Cal Cottrell of Muscatine, Pat at Waconia, Minnesota, and Mrs. John McGeough of Waterville, all of whom were present at the funeral which was held this morning from the McGeough residence and at 10:00 o'clock at St.Patrick's Church in Waukon. The remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in the family lot at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The pall berarers were Mike Buggy, Joe McNamara, Jim McCormick, Vince McGeough, Charles Link, and John Kaveny.
