Funeral Rites Yesterday for Raymond Kelleher

Funeral services were held yesterday morning at nine o’clock at Immaculate Conception Church for Raymond Kelleher, 57, who passed away Saturday following a heat stroke at the Mental Health Institute in Mount Pleasant. He had been seriously ill a few days and his brother Ben was with him.

He was born on August 4, 1897, a son of Mary Whalen and Francis Kelleher and graduated from the I. C. high school with the class of 1916 and was graduated from Iowa State College at Ames in 1922. He received his civil engineering degree at the University of Illinois where he served on their faculty for the next six years. In 1929 he suffered a nervous collapse from which he never fully recovered.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, Edward in 1921 and Joseph, only a couple of years ago in Dubuque. Immediate survivors include his two brothers, Ben and Kern, of near Lansing, 4 nieces and 1 nephew.

Msgr. Henry Scharphoff offered the Mass of Requiem and said the final prayers at the graveside in Gethsemane where interment was made in the family lot. Pall bearers were lifelong friends, Carl and Cyril Hurm, Bill Doehler, Bill Curran, Myron Guider and Elmer Kelleher.
