William Herman Oehring

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of William H. Oehring, 79, who passed away at his home Sunday morning following a short illness. The rites were in charge of Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.

William Herman Oehring, a long time resident of this area, died at home on Sunday, January 31, at the age of 79.

Mr. Oehring was born May 24, 1874 at Marquette, Iowa, the son of Carl J. Oehring and Johanna Gaulke. He came to Postville around the age of 13. He spent most of his life in this area, though he did spend some time traveling.

He farmed near Postville for many years, living with his mother until her death, when he moved to town.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Charles of Elkader and Fred of McGregor. he is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Newell Kramer of Elkader, and Esther Oehring of Chicago.

He was baptized in infancy in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of this city and confirmed by Rev. John Gass on March 30, 1890.
