Oberton Lyman Olson

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 14, at 1:30 p.m., at Old West Paint Creek Church for Lyman Olson, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 11. The rites were in charge of the Rev. E. O. Baalson. Burial was in Old West Paint Creek cemetery.

Oberton Lyman Olson, son of Otto and Marie Olson, was born on January 29, 1892 at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He passed away at his home in Postville on December 11, 1963 at the age of 71 years and 11 months.

He was baptized into the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the Deronda Lutheran Church of Deronda, Wisconsin.

On April 21, 1921, he was united in marriage with Hazel F. Britain. To this union was born one son, Howard. Lyman was preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Hazel of Postville; one son, Howard and wife and grandson of Virginia, Minnesota; a sister, Irene; a brother, Clifford; and a nephew, Richard, of Amery, Wisconsin; besides many relatives, neighbors and friends.

The deceased came to Allamakee county from Wandroos, Wisconsin as a young man in 1910. He was a member of the American Expeditionary Forces and served in Europe during World War I. He lived and worked in Waterville, Waukon and Postville areas for the greater part of his life. He was a member of the American Legion and World War I barracks No. 1297 of Waukon.
