Last Rites for Mrs. Marsden

A mass of requiem was said Wednesday, Sep 21 at 9 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church in Waukon for Mrs. James M. Marsden. The Rev. Joseph Slepicka officiated and burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Orlando Anderson, Fred Gordon, Melvin Steffenson, Harvey Stock, James and John Campbell were casket bearers. Nettie Riley was born Dec 3, 1890 in Union Prairie township and was a daughter of Mike and Mary MacAney Riley. She married James Marsden May 22, 1919 and they lived on a farm east of Waukon for 30 years. They moved to Waukon 10 years ago. They were parents of five children. Survivors are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Pat (Mary) O'Malley of Waukon and Mrs. Roger (Betty) Ernst of Decorah, and three sons, Robert of Cedar Rapids, Jack of Waukon, and Donald of Mabel, Minn. There are 20 grandchildren surviving. Two sisters, Mrs. Len Campbell and Marie Riley of Waukon preceded her in death. Mrs. Marsden died Monday Sept 19 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. She had been in ill health for three years.
